Waterboarding is torture. This is how it is described. "Waterboarding is when you tie a person down and put a rag over their face. You then pour water on them continuously. It feels like you’re drowning. “if the water is poured uninterruptedly it will lead to death by asphyxia with the sensation of drowning, also called dry drowning. Besides death, waterboarding can cause extreme pain, damage to lungs, brain damage from oxygen deprivation, other physical injuries including broken bones due to struggling against restraints, and lasting psychological damage.[1] Adverse physical consequences can manifest themselves months after the event, while psychological effects can last for years.”(wikipedia). To sum it up waterboarding has the potential extremely harmful to any one that it is done too." (Waterboarded)

Waterboarding may be one of the worst forms of torture. It is worse than drowning. Which is why it is now deemed illegal even though some countries still use is it without the public knowledge.

    SO Yes, waterboarding is torture.

Hi Schmitty. Happy to see you wading right on in here. We would like to get the board more active so if you think this place suits you, and you can do so without breaking anybody else's rules, invite friends to join you here. Or just make friends with us peculiar folks who haunt this place.

As for waterboarding, I will admit it is almost certainly psychologically horrible, but our special ops people do undergo it routinely as part of their training. It does not harm anyone physically, it is not brain washing or anything similar. So I am on the fence as to whether it is actually torture or just an extreme and sometimes effective form of interrogation. If it would make the difference in whether my loved one or dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions of innocent people lived or died, I would not want it to be removed from options available to save those people.

Evenso, I respect the views of those on both sides of the fence.
Only the mediocre are always at their best.

The word "torture" does not have a precise definition, otherwise we would not be arguing about whether water boarding is torture. . The real question is whether it should be allowed. If submitting a terrorist to water boarding will save lives, I am all for it. The other way to look at it is, if submitting someone to waterboarding would save a loved one's life, would you allow it? If it would save my wife or kids or other close relative, there would not be a moment's hesitation. Why would anyone not do the same thing for a stranger?
Life is more fun, if you do not take it too seriously.
