    Active Shooter

A video game maker has released a video game called Active Shooter. In this game, he player pretends he is an active shooter in a school. How stupid and depraved can you get? I think we just found out.

ah, now that i had time to read the story, it does have the option to be either the shooter, or the SWAT team, doesn't make this any less offensive, but at least you can choose to be the good guy

True. But how sick is it that they even give you the option to be the shooter?

I agree, that shouldn't be an option, it should be to STOP the active shooter

Actually there should NOT be any such game at all. In fact they should stop glorifying all these violent video games. IMO they are a big part of the violence we are seeing in our schools today.

I do think violent movies, television, video games, etc. can desensitize people to the pain and suffering of others or change them so that they no longer naturally recoil from blood, mayhem, murder, etc. Most especially when the killer is made into a sympathetic character or the goal of the game is to win by committing mayhem and murder. Most especially the young and immature could be negatively affected, some in violent ways.

I have an old Microsoft game "Rise of Nations" that I have enjoyed over the years. It is billed as a 'big huge' game in which it takes a couple of hours or more to play with a broad terrain to cover while you build and improve our own nation. And you are limited to 200 citizens--there are ways to increase that a bit--and when your civilization has progressed to artillery, tanks, and airplanes, each one of those counts as a citizen. Which means as you need to increase your military, it becomes necessary to kill off some of your farmers, wood cutters, miners, and scholars that you no longer need. And when you do that, they emit teensy screams or groans.

And that bothers me. I hate that aspect of the game even though it is just a video game.

Don't play video games, any games on the computer or any other devise. Over the years, especially when first becoming acquainted with computers, I did play Solitaire and a game of golf or two but haven't done either in at least the past 17 years since retiring. Got enough other projects going on which requiring computer software. So that uses up all the time I want or need to devote to computers. I admit I do spend way toooooooooooo much time on FB though but that is about my only vise anymore. Getting too damn old for any others. LOL
