I wonder if he can change his mind now that he's on this endeavor.
I would rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than a car ride with Ted Kennedy.
    The survival rate is better.

He was an interesting character. Certainly ran the most interesting campaign of anybody in my lifetime--short on substance, but entertaining. Still he intrigued an awful lot of people, and considering that neither Bill Clinton nor George H.W. Bush got even close to 50% of the popular vote, had he not wigged out at the last minute and gone looney tunes, I will always wonder if he would have won the 1992 election.

I always loved the image of Bill Clinton and George Bush 41 arriving for a debate--Clinton in a big corporate jet, Bush in Air Force One, both surrounded by dozens of staff and Secret Service people. Perot drives up with a couple of other guys in an off-the-rack Ford or Plymouth or something. It was fun to watch.

And in spite of him dropping out muttering wild stories something about mercenaries being after him plus the "Democrat Party had revitalized itself" and then getting back in some weeks later, he still pulled 19% of the vote in 1992, more than any other independent or non-major-party candidate in the 20th or 21st Centuries.

But basically he was a good guy. Prayers for his family.
Only the mediocre are always at their best.
